Potholes, alligator cracks, sunken drains, crumbling edges, ponding water. We dig out the root cause, not just the symptom, patch it so it matches the rest of the surface, and keep the problem from returning next winter.
Overview
Most asphalt failures aren't really surface failures. They're base failures, drainage failures, or edge failures showing up at the top. A pothole that keeps coming back every spring is almost always a base problem. We fix it at the layer where the problem lives.
Saw-cut the damaged area to a clean edge. Dig out failed material to solid base, we'll recompact or rebuild the base if it's part of the failure. Tack coat the edges, fill and compact with hot mix. Done right, the patch will outlast the pavement around it.
Hairline cracks turn into open cracks turn into potholes, all because water gets in. We route and clean crack lines, blow them dry, and fill with hot-pour rubberized crack sealant that flexes with freeze-thaw.
Crumbling edges, sunken drain frames, low spots that pool water, the structural fixes most cut-rate crews skip. We cut back to solid material, rebuild the edge or elevation, and re-pave to match.
FAQs
Almost always a base problem, water is getting under the mat, the base is pumping, and each freeze-thaw pushes the patch out. A proper repair digs down to solid base and fixes the root cause. Surface-only patches are why you keep calling the same number.
We can do cold-patch emergency fills in winter to get you through until spring. Permanent hot-mix repairs need temperatures above 50°F and no freezing weather in the immediate forecast.
A fresh hot-mix patch will look dark black against older, sun-faded asphalt for the first year or two. Once oxidation catches up, the color evens out. A sealcoat after cure time will make the whole surface uniform faster.
